Comment: Overall, these are the healthiest fish I have ever bought! The shipping packaging was superior to anything I have seen. I ordered several fish, and though one pair did not ultimately survive, the rest of the fish are thriving. These fish were even healthier than what I have seen in local aquarium stores. Yes, they are more expensive at Dan’s, but the superior health is worth it. They refunded me the cost of the one pair immediately ….and I, almost as quickly, bought more fish from Dan’s. Each fish is packaged individually. The females were almost all pregnant. And two quickly gave birth within a few days! Bonus! I highly recommend this shop!

Comment: Second order of many to come. All nine fish are alive and look healthy. The colors on the guppies were not there when I unpacked them but once I put them in the tank by themselves they got all the color back. The shipping took 17 hours total from Wyoming to Ohio. Think this scares the fish pretty bad but no other way is better. All fish are beautiful. Thank you Dan and team.

Comment: Hello, Let me first begin by saying how much I appreciate your efforts, your wonderful selection, and your amazing shipping practices. Overall, I really love your service. However, I am very disappointed in my last order in that one of the species that I ordered, were so small, there was absolutely no way they could survive in a community tank. The Rasbora Phoenix we’re in fact so small, I had a hard time seeing them in the bag and transferring them to my tank. I managed to get them in my tank but have not seen them since I initially put them in. I am still hopeful that they’re hiding out somewhere as I have a large tank and perhaps they have chosen a spot where they feel safe as I have many sheltered and protected areas. I have a sinking suspicion however that they were perhaps eaten by one of the other fish because of their small size. Had I have known they were that small, I would’ve abstained from ordering them and ordered something different. I very very much wanted those particular fish for my collection and hope that in the future, you will refrain from selling species of that size until they are larger and big enough to give them a better chance of survival. Comment: recently received an overnight shipment of live fish from Dan’s Fish, and I felt compelled to share just how impressed I am with the entire experience. From the moment the box arrived, it was clear that great care had gone into the packaging. Everything was meticulously prepared, and the box was still warm from the heat packs—something that immediately reassured me about the well-being of the fish during transit. After watching a YouTube video about Dan’s Fish and how they run their operation, I felt confident enough to take a chance and not quarantine my fish and release them in my main tank after slow acclimating them. Five days later, the fish are thriving in my 180-gallon, well-established planted tank, alongside fish I’ve had for years. While the shipping cost may seem a bit high at first, it is absolutely worth it for the peace of mind and the quality of care taken to ensure the fish arrive healthy and stress-free. We have two angels in that particular tank about the size of a half dollar, and half of the celestial danios were gone within 2 minutes. Perhaps you could indicate the size of the fish on your website.

Comment: I got 13 phoenix rasboras, 12 green neon tetras and 8 kuhli loaches and every single one of them was in excellent condition when they arrived. Most of them were jumping straight out of the bags on their own when it was time to release them, and went straight to normal fish activities. Even after just a few minutes out of the box and still in the bags, I was already seeing some great color on some of them. And the way the fish are packaged is so convenient for checking up on each one and setting them up to be acclimated. I also got some very prompt help when I asked about the preferred foods for each fish and what they'd been eating up until now. I couldn't be happier with my order and I hope all of these little guys love their new home!

Comment: My 2nd order. I got another german blue ram and 8 dwarf neon rainbowfish. I ended up with a male and female ram, they seem to have paired up. I will note they have big attitudes towards everyone else for such little fish in a large space. They might need their own seperate tank but both seem to be doing well health wise; good color, appetites and certainly active. I'm new to the dwarf rainbow fish but they seem to be doing well too. Active, eating and beautifully colored. It is very expensive to order here but everyone from my previous order is still doing great. No losses or illnesses. I would order again.

Comment: I will start by saying the customer service is quick, responsive and kind. I ordered 4 bronze Corydoras. I followed the directions on their card for acclimation. They acclimated the tank around noon. The first night and day after, everyone was great, wiggling around, nice color eating. The second morning after, I discovered one was dead. Later that morning, I saw the second one die. The poor little guy suddenly lost all his color, started gasping for air, and his swim bladder malfunctioned. He died within 20 minutes. I woke up the following morning (about 72 hours) and a third one was belly up. I’m really confused and upset about why they have passed. Currently trying to keep the fourth guy alive. I’ve been actively testing and water parameters have been stable. I reached out to customer service who looked into things. I shared all my parameters and details. They verified my parameters were perfect. All my other fish in the tank have been fine for months (I have more sensitive fish in my tank like Apistogramma Borellii). Customer service did refund the sale price of the two fish that had died when I reached out to them. I definitely would have appreciate ac shipping refund (likely would have waited and reordered if that were the case) I’m still at a loss. My LFS mentioned hormones (I had 3 other bronze adult Corydoras in there and I was trying to fill out the school). Somehow my gut is saying that because my ph is 7.5 and my GH/KH is between 50-100, I should have drip acclimated because of the difference with the water they came from. The directions in the package said to plop and drop. Customer service said it shouldn’t have been an issue. I’m not pretending to be any kind of expert, or blaming anyone, but just sharing my experience two cents. I’ll update if the last one makes it or not.

Comment: The smoothest experience I could hope for! The order arrived several hours earlier than initially predicted while I was still at work, but thankfully a quick call to another household member meant the fish were still promptly taken inside and checked - with everyone being in perfect condition. They were all lively as could be when I was finally back to take care of them, and went straight to exploring and searching for food around their tank upon release. Comment: Ordered a set of 8 RLF red emperor medaka, fish came in a styrofoam box with heatpacks and additional insulation + newspapers. They added two water packs to have the fish tightly packed, so that they wouldn't roll around during shipment. The fish arrived healthy and instantly starting eating some of the live food in the tank. Overall a great experience. The thoughtfulness in just the packing and the overall health of the fish when they arrived is truly such an underrated experience in the aquarist hobby.

Comment: My dwarf gourami has been doing very well for the past month. I received a female, she’s very yellow with some blue iridescence. I ordered five Panda Corydoras and one unfortunately was ill on arrival and passed after a day. They were all a good size compared to my LFS and I expect some losses from Corydora personally. The other four joined my existing group and are doing well.

Comment: Sorry guys. This time the process, packaging and shipping were your usual top notch but the fish (although technically alive) are not. I was excitedto keep the Tanganyikan Kilifish again and I know they do not handle shipping well as they can be sensitive so I ordered a few extra but half of theses guys arrived looking like little heads on a spine without any weight on them. I have been nursing them through in quarantine for the past week and a half but the littlest ones have been dying off so that I now have five of the eight left and two of those still look rough and have been very hit or miss with their eating whether it's live, dry or powdered foods. I would expect to lose them over the next week. It was an expensive swing and a miss for me. *Update: Since writing this review this morning, two more have died leaving me with three out of eight left.

The packaging is incredible, and I really appreciate how much care went into just this shipment. It is obvious that the welfare and wellbeing of the fish is paramount. Every single fish arrived in great shape, active, and healthy. They arrived at 8PM after riding around in a UPS truck all day for 11 hours, but they looked good on arrival. After a night in the dark to recover from their journey, they are very active and eating well today. I couldn't be happier. Will definitely be ordering more fish soon. Thank you!

Comment: Ordered 2 reticulated hillstream loaches and a pack of 3 nerite snails from Dan's. I normally never order fish from online sources since I had a bad experience from a different store over a year ago, but no local stores carry the loaches I wanted. Pleased to say that it's been 4 days since the fish went in the tank and they're been perfectly healthy. I've never seen fish that were so energetic fresh out of the bag (their shipping method really works for keeping the fish healthy). Obviously, you pay extra compared to other online stores for the better shipping, but it was definitely worth it to get all my fish in tip-top shape. Will probably be buying from Dan's again!

Acclimated and started to show decent color about 6 hours in. Very healthy and very active. This was my first time ordering a fish online and it was a solid experience. You can tell these fish are taken care of before they arrive.

Comment: Shipping could not have been better! Fish arrived at 73 degrees, and all were happy and healthy. I ordered some lemon blue eyed plecos, dwarf neon rainbow fish, and two mystery assorted fish (love the “fill your box” feature!). My only criticism is that there was no label or way for me to know what mystery fish I received. I understand that may be a logistical nightmare, and I don’t expect the same high quality printed bag for those fish. But if there was any way to insert a printed sheet, or even just a follow up auto-email, I would appreciate the certainty about what fish I received as “assorted fish”. I think I was able to figure it out based on what’s currently available in the website, but given that so many of the fish Dan sells are too young to easily distinguish from others, I think this would be a big value add. Overall, great experience from Dan’s Fish and I will definitely by buying again!
