  • Comment: Fish came in rather warm. Had readings from 84 to 86 . Took extra time in the acclimation first to the room temp of 72 then tank of 78 hour each way had the bags down to tank temp . Little warm for the rasboras so they were moving rather slowly . Swords perked right up once in the tank … fingers crossed … yes after my last order the quarenteen tank is back in action

Pygmy Cories ans Glowlight Danios are acting like they have been together forever, joy to watch these 2 species instantly school together, happy fish. Next day: They play all the time, happy fish.

  • Comment: Rating should really be 4.75, but they only offer whole numbers. I ordered 4 Denison Barbs which were great. I ordered 4 Apisto Cacatuoides (unsexed) and happily got 2 males and 2 females. Absolutely beautiful males! I also ordered 4 Corydoras sterbai "Aquarium Strain". This is where we went wrong. They did all arrive alive, but one was EXTREMELY skinny. It was moving in the bag, but once I got it out, I could see it better. It had the shape of a tadpole. Normal head, but no width behind. When I put them in the tank, it dropped right to the bottom and lay there upside down. It did move around a little bit over the next couple hours and I hoped for the best. I threw some frozen baby brine in, hoping it would start to eat, but it was dead within 3 hours. I would absolutely buy from Dansfish again, but, in this case, I don't think there was anything I could do to save this guy. *Just a follow up- I wasn't expecting a refund, but was happily surprised. Great customer service. Definitely getting more fish from Dansfish in the future.

  • Comment: I hate to leave this, but 3 weeks after my order I need to update my experience. Everything came in looking good. Ordered a pair of sailfin mollies, 6 Raccoon Tetras, 5 Red Celebes Halfbeaks "Muna Regency", 1 Hygrophila corymbosa 'Compacta', and 1 Microsorum pteropus 'Sunrise'. Mollies immediately developed stress ich, but responded well to salt. Raccoons are doing ok but a few were missing parts fins when they came in. Red Celebes developed a body fungus a couple days after delivery. After two back to back 5 day treatments with Maracyn I lost 3 out of 5. I did email Dan's Fish with my water parameters. They didn't say they were problematic and said to finish treatment. All of my tanks are seasoned with shrimp and plants living in them for at least 3 months prior to adding any fish. I have 14 other tanks going in the fish room and none of them have had any issues, other than the Dan's Fish tanks. Each species got it's own 20 gallon tank that's seasoned with plants and shrimp. The Compacta was tiny for the price while the Sunrise was amazing. On a $300 order I was happy with less than 1/2 the product. I might try them again in the future but my first experience was underwhelming. Stick to your LFS if you have one.

I'm not a fan of the small, individual packages - fewer fish per package and possibly more handling of the fish. I received two shipments of fish last week via USPS 2-day priority mail - zero dead/damaged, more fish/package, and one-third the shipping cost.

A few of the fish found bottom corners and rested for a while after being introduced, but most began exploring within minutes—and everyone colored back up within the first few hours (would have anticipated a few days). By the end of the day everyone was eating, looking happy and healthy, and grouping up with their similar sp. tank mates. Haven’t noticed any territorial aggression yet but still day one. Again, so far I am very pleased as a first time customer—specimens were not young or weak appearing—all good size, healthy individuals. The packaging was very good and assistance almost instant when I emailed about any specific acclimation procedures. Impressed with the experience and am confident they’ll work with customers if there is die off even after transit. Well done, especially with such an extensive selection.

  • Comment: When I first got into fish keeping, I was not greatly educated on the conditions necessary for Betta fish. I bought two seperate bettas from Petsmart. However, after doing lots of research I realized how unethical it was to purchase from pet stores. My last Petsmart Betta passed recently. I wanted to make sure I purchased my next fish ethically from a place that puts great care into their fish. The amount of delicacy and care put into these beautiful fish is astounding to say the very least! I am so incredibly grateful for how quickly my fish arrived and how carefully packaged she was. She looks healthy, active and absolutely beautiful. I hope she loves her new home.

The Eels are incredible. 1 big heat pack 1 small Heat pack came in at 104, center bag right under it came in around 82. Rest of the bags came in between 78-79. A bit warm but I think if you had done any less for the weather, it wouldn't have been enough.

  • Comment: Rearranged my shipping date to make sure I was home, how many sites do that? Not many. So the fish arrived packaged perfectly, and believe it or not, the bags were between 75 - 77 F. I've ordered from other sellers and had a generally pleasant experience, but Dan's fish arrived and it is Day#2 and the fish look absolutely brilliant, almost like they've been in my tank for a month. I ordered 6 apistogramma and it looks like it was attempted to get a good mix of male/female even though they are sold unsexed. Shipping was quick and all 6 fish in great health.   • Comment: Fish arrived spunky and ready to roll. Box was still quite warm and no visible damage to the packaging. My quarantine tank was indisposed at the time and had to introduce the marble whiptail and two lizardtails into my established tank, all is well! They have acclimated and a female Farlowella has bonded to the marble who could really care less. One of the lizardtails has a broken and missing anal fin which is the only negative, despite this it is more active than the other and is doing well!

  • Comment: Wow! Great communication, shipping, packaging, and fish. The only fish that looked washed out in color was the chilis. Everyone else kept their color/colored up even more. These peacocks are a bit bigger than i was expecting but MAN they are beautiful. I ordered from them on ebay before but ordering directly was easier. All the fish came separately packaged so i can count them individually and acclimate individually. Will definitely have to order from them again! All are alive as well!

Healthy on arrival; Chili Rasbora and the Golden Dwarf Barbs paired well, so far, seemingly happy together. Shrimp established quickly, molted day one! Most impressed with the delivery and health of these tiny nano fish in winterized shipment. The Golden Dwarf Barbs have great color after warming up to 78 degrees... more yellow iridescent flash than gold like the picture... Barbs certainly looking better in-tank. Overall, 5 star!   • Comment: My puffer came in looking awesome! Plump, active and was hunting the snails that must have escaped my removal almost immediately after he was released. I was very impressed with the packing job as well. I opened the box up to find three bags of water, one with the puffer and the other two empty and labeled temp. All bags were nice and warm and heat pack still going strong. The puffer was nice and snug in between the two water only bags which I’m sure not only kept him warm but also kept jostling to the absolute minimum. I will definitely be using Dan’s fish next time I order anything online. Couldn’t have asked for anything better.
