  • Comment: I have had a difficult time with Rummynose tetras over the years. I’ve tried a couple local fish stores and tried an online fish store but have only succeeded in keeping about 4 healthy Rummynose tetras out of easy 40 or more attempts. I was about to give up on them, but stumbled upon Dan’s Fish. I sent an email asking about their water parameters, watched some of their online videos, and researched a few forums. I was impressed by their process of quarantining and their excellent customer service replying to my email in leads than 24 hours. I decided to give them a try. My shipment was delayed a day, due to UPS not Dan’s and I was a little worried with previous experiences with these temperamental beauties. They arrived the next day and I opened the box to find all 10 alive and well. The individual packaging for each fish is nothing short of spectacular. I drip acclimated them and placed them in my quarantine tank. The next day their noses were bright red and they were swimming around energetically and they ate enthusiastically. I monitored them for a week+ and then introduced them to the display tank. They didn’t love the move at first but were in great shape the next morning. I am so very pleased with the quality of fish and the service I’ve received. Thank you.

  • Comment: I ordered 2 spotted congo puffers. This is a huge investment and I have always wanted to have them as the crowning jewel. They arrived in perfect condition and are truly beautiful fish. The packaging was exceptional and I couldn't be happier with my experience. I will 100% be shopping Dan's fish again.

  • Comment: Wow wish there was a higher rating. After trying to keep some panda corys THREE TIMES and having tons of bad luck from other sources, I decided to try one more time with some pandas from Dans. These fish aren't known for having great genetics & suffering terribly while in transit. I kept loosing fish around the 2-3 week mark. Well not even 2 weeks in the pandas are already spawning! These things are huge. We've nick-named the fat females "beluga" and "orca". Thanks for some really chunky, sassy corys :) Chilis are also looking really good. They took a while to calm down from shipping & eat, but they're finally exploring their little territory. They are notably young juveniles and are not adults. However, there have been 0 casualties thus far which is always a win. In general you will not find another source that packages fish so carefully, ensuring fish are destressed & at good weight/healthy, and responsibly sourced :)

  • Comment: Both the Congo spotted puffers and the emperor tetras arrived alive and healthy. The fish have remained healthy during the past nine days. I have placed the Congo spotted puffers in a 125 gallon tank with seven Corydoras Sterbai, a group of three line pencilfish, and five alto tapiche apistogramma. So far, I have seen no problems with aggression. The apistogramma are more likely to chase the spotted Congo puffers away than the reverse.

Honestly, I was skeptical because I have never ordered fish online before, and to have them come in healthy and alive is amazing, especially during this cold front. HOWEVER, I do have one issue - I understood upon ordering that the Odessa Barbs were "female heavy", but I still expected that out an order of 7 that I would get at least 1 male. I got a notification app 5pm that my order was shipped and by 11:30 a.m. next day I got the notification it had been delivered to me in CT That's under 24 hours AMAZING . When I opened the box and took temp it was around 78°inside box . The fish all arrived in excellent shape and by the next morning the rainbows were all colored up and flashing already . I really appreciate the fact that all the fish are quarantined and medicated already it saves me lots of time and hassle. Well worth the extra dollar or two per fish you pay just to have the peace of mind . And; the knowledge I get from watching your YouTube channel is priceless. Thank you so much for your service.   • Comment: The lumbantobing goby is awesome. Similis is very big, sadly I lost the other ones I had so I’ll have to get more along with the new goby as he/she doesn’t have a nice group yet. I’d leave him/her in with the quarantine tank but I’m afraid similis will eat him/her. Everyone made it fine, the temp in the bags was warmer than my tanks so those warmers do I great job.

  • Comment: I have been lurking for some time on Dan and team's youtube channel. Watching them build the warehouse and seeing his mission come to fruition. I finally got to the point, where I had some extra room in a tank to order some fish. I ordered two pairs of tequila sunrise guppies from the team. Communication throughout the process was exactly as advertised, clear and concise. My guppies came in within 1 degree of what Dan's team is keeping their fish at at the warehouse. No indications of stress, and the fish has adapted perfectly to their new tank. I can say with utter confidence, that anytime I am looking for new fish for my tanks, Dan's Fish will be the first place I will look. The one thing I would call attention to for anyone ordering from Dan's Fish (just an observation). If you have soft, city or well water, make sure to do a long acclimation period with whatever you order. The water from Dan is very hard (multiple TDS meters had it just under 3k!). Just be aware while you acclimate your fish. Can't wait to place another order!

Seller Reply: Howdy Micksfish, I'm glad to hear that the fish arrived in good condition. Just so you know, we add salt to our shipping water to make osmoregulation easier for the fish during transit. A lot of the hardness your TDS meter picked up is that salt. - Dan

  • Comment: Ordered Some Silvertip and Platinum Rummy nose Tetras along with some Orange Venezuelan Corys for my 100gal Community South American Tank, and a Coral Platy pair to go with a female Betta. Everyone showed up warm and healthy on a chilly day. The Silvertips colored up almost immediately and formed a tight school. The Rummy nose started reddening up after five minutes. Everyone was eating with their tankmates in the first hour. Beautiful healthy fish. Thank you Dan and Crew!

  • Comment: all fish arrived healthy! Spotted Blue Eye are very active. Even the one looked slightly weaker recovered within one week. Black Stripe Dwarf Cichild are really pretty. However, I believe once they are in a tank without other black stripe dwarf cichild, they start to show aggressive behavior, even between a male and a female. These dwarf cichilds are generally peaceful towards other fish and shrimp at this point. Really happy with the experience and will defiantly order some other fish in the future!

My only complaint is the fish were advertised at 2.5-3" and the largest one i got was 2.5" and the rest are very clearly only 2" Plan to be a returning customer nonetheless.

  • Comment: First time order from DansFish for a New 100gal. Blue Tetras (10) and Otocinclus (6). And a few Nerites. Box showed up Next Day, well packed, with lots of active fish. Within an Hour the Tetras were exploring and eating freeze dried daphnia and live black worms. Otocinclus were checking everything out and snail started working on some biofilm almost immediately. Looking forward to my next order from Dansfish!

I saw you on Youtube and watched a two hour video and was extreamly impressed! ..I saw you had Black lancer catfish and order Three of them..they were Shipped promptly and arrived healthy and happy the next day.. I took a video of them and sent it to expreess my joy of my first fish internet experience...moments after sending the video I noticed an imperfection on one of their pectoral fins..even though it was evident in the video I sent I took another one focusing on the abnormal fin....not knowing what to expect since other than the imperfection the fish seemed fine..before I could give it a second thought my email chimed in with and apology for the minor flawed fish and a refund !NOW THATS WHAT I CALL AN ABSOLUTE WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE!!! I have got LFS snails or bought online and have slow or negligible to just dead snails as a near norm. NOT THESE GUYS! They were moving and working immediately! I didn't know Rabbit snails could move that fast!!! Nerites happy too!

Packaging was excellent and the fish arrived in awesome condition. Good size (for a tiny cpd), great color, healthy and active. I acclimated and added the fish before my lights came on. Once the lights did come on, I could not tell the new cpds from the 8 that were already in the tank. I strongly recommend Dan's if you're looking for awesome fish!!!

  • Comment: Two out of 7 angels were basically DOA and died later on the arrival day. Fish barely had enough water to cover their bodies in the shipping bags. A third angel came in with a large gash on its side. This was only evident a day or so after. Disappointed with the order and customer service regarding replacement. Carefully read all terms and conditions as the form that came with the box and front page are not true.
