  • Comment: All fish arrived safe and healthy as usual. This was my fourth order from Dan’s Fish and the attention to detail and the extraordinary care this company takes keeps me coming back. I purchased a coral pattern Pleco, a demon hillstream loach and a couple of Sterbai Corys this time. They are fat and happy!

  • Comment: I am bummed, one of my electric blue rams didn’t survive. I have put this review off for a week, because I had hoped to write all fish arrived healthy and thriving. The EBR that died didn’t seem okay from the start, was very thin and never really wanted to eat. I hatched some live baby brine shrimp to try to entice him, but it didn’t work. He lingered for a week and then died. The others are robust and growing, but this one didn’t seem healthy. With that said, I feel Dan is a reputable person and has a great selection of fish and I will definitely order again.

You all already know that no one ships better than Dan’s so I won’t beat that dead horse, but I can say that I’d rather pay the extra shipping cost and price per fish than save a few bucks and get lesser quality.

However, despite a shipping delay caused by a tornado, the fish came in perfectly healthy and happy. You definitely get your money's worth with the quality of this place.   • Comment: Long review but I'll put the basics up top. Great business based on the shipping, packaging, and health. Also if you haven't read threw the "about their business" it's definitely something you want to read/support. Fish came absolutely perfect. I loved the description of the fish to help you make an informed decision. We are new to anything other then goldfish and this really helped us choose not just based on looks but what was best for our setup. Other positives I've checked numerous times and they are constantly getting new kinds of fish in. They reach out every step of the way. When I got the email to leave a review is stated an honest review, not many companies do that anymore. The cost is going to be more. Though it's worth it to have happy, healthy fish shipped as quickly as possible. We can't stand the way box stores treat their fish. Pro/Con At least our order most were babies and weren't as vibrant as we were hoping. Though after some research we learned with age comes the vibrant color. So con is if your looking for bright colors right off the bat theirs a possiblity you may not get them. For us it ended up being a pro because with proper care we can have them longer then older fish. Honestly from the way the sites set up, quality of service, shipping, health of the fish I have nothing bad to say. Just need more tanks now!

  • Comment: 17 Gold White Cloud Mountain Minnows arrived via UPS NDA at 10:00 in the morning 5 days ago. Each fish individually double bagged. Water temperature in a bag= 76 degrees. All the fish were healthy and acclimated quickly. They had their first meal that afternoon and are still healthy and active. The shipment was delayed a day as there had been a tornado in the town where the local UPS hub was located. Instead of leaving my shipment to the uncertainty of the tornado damage Dan's Fish retrieved the shipment and sent it out after UPS service was restored. I was deeply grateful for their care of my shipment.

  • Comment: When I got my pea puffers and amano shrimp they were all healthy and happy. Although one puffer I received does have a slight spine deformity so I had contacted customer support and they were very helpful and had said that was not up to their standard and was sorry it slipped through the cracks, so to speak. I had gotten a refund on the puffer and cost of shipping for said puffer. Overall I will be ordering again in the future and will always recommend others order from here too!

  • Comment: I would give 4.5 as a rating if possible. I purchased 6 long fin peppered corydoras and 4 giant kuhli loaches. Everyone arrived alive and as of now, two weeks post delivery, they are all still alive. Zero signs of illness. The experience was mostly positive and I would absolutely buy from here again! Highly recommend getting fish from here! The only reason I did not rate them 5 stars was because all the corydoras had fin damage upon arrival. They all had at least one damaged fin, as if they were broken sometime during shipping. I will note they have all been healing up nicely and only one still has signs of the injury. Additionally, all the fish are pretty skittish. They still scatter a bit when I approach the tank but it’s getting better. I expect in another month or two they will be even more comfortable. These were the only negatives. The fact that they were all healthy and have adjusted well far outweighs these small nitpicks. I plan to purchase fish from here again in the future.

I was totally surprised and absolutely shocked but only 3 arrived doa out of 17!!! I was reimbursed immediately. Dave packs his fish very very good and makes sure there’s heat/cold… whichever is needed. I will definitely continue to order from him. The fish are thriving!! Thank you Dave!!!

Living in the Midwest, I always try to wait to order fish until the warmer weather arrives to increase my chances of success. Since I had never ordered from Dan’s before, I figured I’d start small with a first order of Fancy Sunrise High Fin Platys (2 males, 2 females) and a 3-pack of Red Onion Nerite Snails.Right off the bat, being able to select my shipping date was clutch—it let me make sure I’d be home on the arrival day. My order arrived as scheduled via UPS before noon. Everything was packed perfectly, and all the animals were alive. I floated the five small bags for 20 minutes and, using a pre-soaked fine mesh net, gently placed my new fish and snails into my well-established, heavily planted 36-gallon bow front aquarium. The Platys are colorful, fat, and sassy. They immediately began exploring their new home—and resumed mating. I mean, gee, they were separated in bags overnight, so they appeared to be pretty “horned-up” as a result. The Red Onion Nerites, albeit a little smaller than I expected, eventually disappeared into the plants for safety, so I assume they’re pleased. Are Dan’s prices a little above average? Maybe. But I truly believe you get what you pay for. Ordering from Dan’s was a pleasure, and I definitely plan to place another order before the next Midwest winter arrives here in OH-IO.

  • Comment: Absolutely perfect shipping and handling of the animals. Individually packing the fish and filling out the box so they stay in place is great. The only thing I would suggest is add a "live animals" and a "this side up" sticker because that could potentially avoid any future issues. I will 100% be buying from Dan's again.
