  • Comment: Shipping was great being able to pick a shipping date really helped me out. The packaging, just wow double bagged each individual fish for extra caution and care. The fish are in great shape have had them for a little over a week now and they have gotten settled in and they do NOT disappoint. Everything about this experience was awesome I will definitely be buying from here again

  • Comment: Even though a freak winter storm hit, Dan's fish was prepared! They sent the fish with a heating pack inside, and while they were lethargic when they arrived, they perked right up! One shrimp even MOLTED in the shipping bag, and another did it while I was acclimating them. They all look fat and sassy for sure, and as of now they all look very healthy in their new homes.

  • Comment: I had one of the best experiences with Dan’s fish. The box was well packaged and each fish in their own bag is above and beyond. The fish, 6 (super reds ) plecos were in excellent condition. I floated them for 2o min like described on the card inside the box. And let them go into a grow out tank I have for other plecos. It’s also darker in that corner. I checked on them 3 hours later and couldn’t see them all, so I sunk a good pinch of crushed flake. And within seconds they all came out to eat. It was awesome to see. I will definitely do business with Dan again. Thanks a lot. I really appreciate the care and great fish you have.

  • Comment: These guys arrived early Tuesday morning. It’s that annoying time of year where Dan is still getting snow storms but Long Island is getting beautiful early spring days. The heat pack was 106° and the water in the bags was 87°. They looked pretty stressed so I killed the lights and let them temp acclimate for about 40 minutes. Bags had come down to tank temp so I released. The travel and temps seemed to have gotten the best of them so I left them alone for the rest of the day. By the next afternoon one was gone but the rest were huddled together. They were incredibly skittish, every time I came near the tank they went into absolute panic mode. They did eat some live bbs though. Today they seem better and went after the bbs with a bit more zeal. I think they’ll be fine. It’s a tough time of year for fish shipping from dans area, but all things considered I think they did a great job.

  • Comment: I ordered a Zebra loach after the snails got out of hand in my planted tank. Then I realized they needed a group, so I added 4 more. Then I realized I needed a small school that would work with my Neon Blue Eyes, so I ordered some Orange Lemon Tetras. I changed my order 3 times before they mailed it out, and they still got everything perfect. I've got some happy health fish who were curious and hungry right out of the box. Those are some happy fish!

  • Comment: These are the BIGGEST guppies I've ever seen! They are absolutely beautiful. They arrived quickly, early in the morning, the day after shipping, with the heat packs and water still warm to the touch. They colored up quickly and now are exploring their new home. Thank you so much!! Edit: The fin nip was from my female betta, of all things. She's now in a holding tank waiting for a different home for being a meanie. The moss green color didn't pick up very well on the video, but the flashing blue in the light did!

The long fin plecos were bigger than I thought they would be. I do like to get those a little smaller to watch them grow but they are fat and healthy. Rosy loaches were bigger than I thought they would be too but look healthy. I will order again!

  • Comment: My first order from Dan, (10 Dwarf Pencilfish and 2 Spike-tailed Paradise fish) and I was not disappointed! I had been hesitant because of the perceived "high" prices, but this is definitely a case of "you get what you pay for" in terms of quality and care . I'll list some things that stood out. Packing was awesome, All 12 fish individually bagged, with heatpack, in an insulated container. Fish were all sized as advertised and filled out (not emaciated or too small ) Fish Colored up wonderfully, ate readily, and began displaying natural behavior within a day. (Good health indicators) I just placed my second order!

Fish bag temps were almost exactly my quarantine tank temperature, very impressed, since there was snow on the ground for this delivery (Alaska in April). The warming pack barely had any heat left, but it was enough for this delivery. Fish were all alive and looked healthy. It's been six days and they are still doing well in quarantine. It feels great ordering from a seller that cares about fish health and humane treatment. Thanks, Dan and crew!

There was no issue placing the order, and the shipping selection was straightforward. I love the way the box size clearly indicates how much product can fit in. The individual packing of the fish is brilliant. While I did lose one pencilfish during the shipment, I will still give a five-star review for their customer service support. I highly recommend Dan's fish.

  • Comment: My order was delayed several days during transit by weather, despite Dan's Fish's best attempts to time the shipment to avoid said weather. Two of the delicate hillstream loaches did not survive. Dan's fish immediately refunded their cost and proportional shipping. Further, the third hillstream loach in the order was saved by the individual bagging system. It surely would have also died if kept in the water with the dead ones, as their water was quite foul from containing dead fish. Instead, he is healthy and active. All the other fish in the order came in good health, with no signs of disease or starvation. This is still true four days into quarantine at time of writing.

Each fish is packed individually, the bag contents are clean and clear, I've never lost a fish (except 1) in the many fish I've purchased from Dan's fish. The most valuable consideration for me is that these fish are treated humanely and Dan's fish treats them w the respect every living creature deserves...(except maybe flies and mosquitos!).   • Comment: Update: The starlight has bounced back after a few days and is now doing great. Pea puffers showed up in great shape and are happily checking out their new home together and eating. Unfortunately my starlight pleco wasn’t doing good when it showed up (swimming erratic and twitching). I was hoping once in the tank it would liven up some but it’s still acting the same. I’m hoping it makes it through the night.

  • Comment: Wish I could give a 11/ 10! The fish arrived packaged beautifully and warm, which I appreciated since last night there was an unexpected dip in temp down to the mid 40s F. GRATEFUL! The communication from this company is excellent. I was informed that the diamond tetras that I'd ordered were ill so my money was instantly refunded and the fish were not sent. I would have quarantined fish before putting them in a tank anyway, but I cycled this one for over a month; I put a few new plants in there (a little melty, but should recover) and my panda angels and emperor tetras are doing beautifully. I love how lively they are and how engaged they are exploring their surroundings. Very happy customer. Wish I could give you a vid of these babies in a 10 gallon tank because they really look adorable, but I can't seem to get anything to upload right now. I'll be back. Thank you so much for the healthy fish.

  • Comment: When I found out that my shipment was delayed by a day I started to worry. Then UPS showed a significant delay resulting in a total ship time of 4 days. I was fully expecting my 5 CPDs, 2 Orange Venezuelan Cory’s and a pack of 4 shrimp to not be in good shape. To my surprise and a testament to the care that Dan’s puts into prep of the fish prior to shipping, the packaging of each fish and the boxing - every fish and shrimp arrived healthy and active. Count me relieved!

  • Comment: This is a review for combined orders of 26377 and 26354 I finally recieved my package at 3.40pm Monday 3/7 The temp inside the bags was 59.6 I lost 2 Chili Rasbora with another just hanging on and 2 Cherry Muzel Tetra Amazingly the rest survived- I attribute that to your great team. The delay with UPS shipping was outside of anyone’s control I will send pictures separately

  • Comment: Unfortunately 2 of the Hillstream Loaches arrived DOA. The rest of the order survived the trip. It's possible the delivery took more than 24 hrs. due to weather conditions The female guppy survived the shipping and appears to be thriving. She's a beauty. Sadly, the male died during the 1st 24 hours so now I have 2 females and no males....

  • Comment: 5+ rating! The package arrived safe and right on time. Each fish was bagged individually and all fish acclimized quickly and had a good appetite from the beginning. When they send you breeding pairs, they are not kidding. After 2 weeks, i already had 12 fry of the Yellow cobra guppies and 5 fry of the staeck endlers. And they all survivedand doing well. I personally think this is a fantastic bonus, not just for the extra fish, but I now have a much broader gene pool, than just offspring from a single pair! (i assume the pair was not kept in isolation for 2 weeks). Can't wait to see them all grow up!

Guineese pair, but was notified on the day of shipping that they realized they were short one male red striped killie. I replied with replace with bivittatum.   • Comment: They came alive and healthy and you got the sexes of the killifishes correct. Distinguishing the sex of these killifish are difficult as both the male and the female look very similar to each other even to the indistinguished eyes. When I introduced the fish in the tank, they immediately gravitated to the bunch of subwassertang. Thank you for your consideration and service.

  • Comment: I have been taking care of fish for a couple of years now and I don’t mind spending $50 on a pair of fish. Or the $40 extra for shipping. But the male of the two fish I got was not in great shape after shipping and died very shortly after trying to get him acclimated to my tanks water. There is also no way to request a refund because the fish have to be DOA for you to do anything about it. So I paid 90$ for a female fish. Female fish are only sold with the males and not even showed their picture because you are buying them to help the males colors. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere. Would give 0 stars if I could.
