  • Comment: Nothing like a fish arrival day from Dan's Fish. Everyone was healthy and lively with some loss of color but you expect it. The pea puffers colored up very quickly and were almost full grown. The shrimp shipped with the guppy grass, I think guppy grass, was a nice benefit and food for my scuds. Five stars as always.

The fish from my calculations were in their shipping package for about 14ish hours. They arrived perfectly (as I suspected) and acclimated without issue. Will upload video as they settle in. 5 stars! 10/10. I will gladly recommend this company to others and purchase from again.

Shout out to customer service and all the team behind Dan’s business. If you have a source for healthy fish nearby, aquarium club, reliable LFS, hobby breeder count yourself lucky.   • Comment: Although I did have one DOA I’m confident it was nothing to do with the Dans Fish team, and just a lost fish due to shipping. Emailed them promptly after receiving the fish, with photos, and they quickly got my refund for me. The other two geo’s I got are happy healthy and swimming around the new quarantine tank. I was a little apprehensive getting the copper Molly’s without a picture but I’m so glad I did, they’re a beautiful orange and reddish color and the male even has slight blue streaks in his fins. Looking forward to adding them to my 55 and seeing lots of fry! Not my first purchase from Dan’s Fish, and it won’t be my last!

  • Comment: I ordered 8 orange shrimp, all arrived healthy and calm in their little baggies. They had a bit of java moss in with them to keep them relaxed. I took a couple hours drip acclimating before adding them to my tank and they buzzed around for a while, but settled right in within a few hours and are now colored up nicely and right at home. :)

  • Comment: I'm so glad I gave Dan's fish another try. The Leopard Ctenopoma are honestly an underrated fish. Their spotting is beautiful, their feeding behaviors are fascinating, and the "dead leaf" vertical swim they do is hilarious. They’re smart fish, verging on being wet pets with how interactive they are. I have them in an office tank, and they always come over to see what I’m doing. The tank is heavily planted, which seems to suit them perfectly. I also got an Apisto cacatuoides 'Double Red' female. She’s settled in great and is just starting to color up, showing some vibrant red.

This is the VERY first time I've ordered fish, online, that each fish were individually sealed within their own air sealed packet (printed on bag is the species) and neatly packed within the box supporting each other like a glove. Now I'm not a fish, but I can only imagine how stressful being shipped in a dark box would be...then I imagine how it would be being crammed in a bag with 8 other me's bumping in to each other. I feel like Dan truly loves this business (and the fish) by providing the least traumatic way to ship them...safely tucked in their own little sealed pouch! I'm really blown away and didn't realize a company did this. Every other place I've ordered from slaps them all in one bag and I usually end up with casualties. Yeah, I know this is long, but I'm that impressed Lol. I now can't wait to place another order...I know where I'm getting my lovely aqua friends from now on! Thanks Dan! Side note: my son saw the box and thought I ordered him special fish (his name is Dan too haha)

  • Comment: I have ordered five times, now, since I first discovered Dan's Fish. An incredible array of fish to choose from. I've ordered very rare fish from Dan's. Each time, they have arrived on time, in excellent health, and actually vibrant. The single package for each fish is a very easy way to introduce them into my different tanks. And, seriously, I allowed them to slip from the bag into the aquarium, after acclimatization, without fear that Dan's water in the bags would introduce a disease. All of them were introduced successfully, and all of them are healthy and breeding. I'm highly satisfied. And will continue to order as the opportunity presents itself.

Unfortunately our water values must have been too different. None survived. But I probably should have just bought shrimp locally. It’s just I can’t find orange Amano shrimp near by.

Seller Reply: Hello Pug Feathers, I'm sorry to hear the Gold Amano Shrimp did not do well for you. We've refunded you for the cost of the shrimp and the shipping associated with them. If I may venture a suggestion, I'd recommend that these shrimp not be drip acclimated, but simply be added directly to the tank once temps have equalized as described in the box insert. If you are willing to give that a try, I'd be happy to send you some free Gold Amanos on your next order if you would like. - Dan

  • Comment: I wish I could post photos! My purchase was a major success, my only regret is not getting more Sulawesi starry nights! I ordered celestial danios to increase my school, orange and black Venezuelan Cory’s (they are the cutest goofballs and I love them) And Sulawesi starry nights. They arrived in great shape and adjusted perfectly. I did lose 1 Sulawesi within 48 hrs, but I’m unclear why, because the other 3 are doing great and I belive one already molted at day 3. I’m already thinking about ordering more Sulawesi’s! I couldn’t be happier with this seller, he also worked with me on shipment days to accommodate my wacky nurse schedule. I plan on purchasing from this seller in the future for my Cory’s, as my lfs I believe they just aren’t as healthy. My crew is happy and eating well, and my Venezuelans get along great with my pandas. A very happy customer here.. but grieving the early loss of one of my starry nights 💔 tho I do not blame this on the seller by any means, maybe just a fluke. The others are happy and adjusted.

  • Comment: They’re thriving! I received a 50/50 ratio of males and females, they’re growing and breeding and just doing great. I love watching them, they constantly pick at biofilm and algae, they do twisty headstands all the time cleaning up the substrate. Everyone says they do better outside, maybe that’s true, I don’t know, but my medaka are doing great inside.

  • Comment: I ordered 2 types of guppies and some platys. Some of the turquoise guppies had clamped fins and were not swimming well. I notified Dan's Fish and sent some pictures. I got a response 1 hour and 45 minutes later stating they had noticed some guppies with clamped fins and the guppies were subsequently diagnosed by their vet with tapeworm. I was told what medication they were using and fortunately, I had some on hand. I am sad some of the fish arrived ill - I had hoped for better. I am very happy that I got a quick response from Dan's Fish giving me a diagnosis and treatment - I think this is fantastic and likely unusual in the aquarium trade. The healthy fish look good. The fish arrived on time and well packed. All the fish are in a quarantine tank and I am treating them with ParaCleanse and salt.

  • Comment: The Apistos came in very healthy and colored up immediately after acclimating and placing them in the tank. 2 of the 10 hummingbird tetras were doa and another passed after acclimating. I love how the hummingbird tetras swim it’s mesmerizing. I ordered more because I’d like the effect of a 15+ school.

  • Comment: I was stunned when first introduced to this website. The Lancaster fish Club ordered together paying the shipping for those of us who bought. When I got my fish, I was amazed at their little "hotel rooms" and, that each were still alive in their little "rooms" after several days! Every one of them are alive to this day as far as I know. In preparation for another order, I did a water change and filter change, There was no dead fish muck in this filter!! Just some plant fragments for sure. I believe what I bought has doubled in size in the past 5-6 months. I put in an order recently that is coming tomorrow:) No fear or trepidation within me now. I finally have healthy fish and a healthy tank and the money spent is worth every penny. Dan's fish are clearly healthy, and he knows what he is doing in order to get them this healthy! (I am so sad for the fish sold in places like Pet-smart.) Now to buy some plants from Dan's affiliate! I have no fear about this now either! You run a Healthy & Wonderful Business Dan!

  • Comment: So happy....finally I have a healthy ALIVE school of Chili Rasboras. After a few attempts where they arrived either dead or died the next few days, I decided to try Dan's Fish. The Chili's were more expensive, but I would have saved money in the long run by going here first. I think the single fish packages are a real help for sensitive fish like these arriving in good shape. I also got some orange shrimp. All arrived alive and are doing well. The color could have been better on some but there's enough of good color to enjoy watching.
