Comment: Hard to beat Dan's fish, particularly in the winter! As always, excellent communication and flawless packing, I was lucky to get the fish shipped before the weather really turned. Everyone arrived in a great shape and a month later there are no issues, fish are are colored up and active. I'll always consider Dan's fish first, even if I have to wait for the fish to become available or to save up extra cash, it's worth knowing that I'll get fish that are strong to handle the shipping and packed with the utmost care to make it.

Comment: Nearly 40 fish in this shipment and they all arrived happy and healthy (100% survival) despite "Arctic blast" winter conditions. The water was a bit cool on arrival (65 degrees F), but that seemed to be no problem. This was another batch of quality fish from Dan and the crew. I'm especially impressed by how healthy, happy, and beautiful the little Cardinal Tetras are. Dan's focus on supplying healthy fish has made it my go to for new fish, despite having some excellent local fish stores.

We go through a lot of steps to insure that all the fish sent out are healthy, but we are not perfect...close, but not quite. I see that you were already refunded for the DOA. I've processed an additional refund for the female that arrived skinny as we should never have sent a fish that did not have good body condition. Comment: My Eques came in and wow. I was not expecting individual bagging, no one else takes that much concern for the health of your fish. Next all the bags were 78 degree which is saying something because I am in PA where the weather is in the teens right now. Comment: I am very happy with each one of my orders. As usual the fish and shrimp came in very good condition. Only one of the Rasboras died during shipping and the cost was immediately refunded. I am gradually stocking a new 90 gallon tank with nano fish and shrimp and couldn't be more satisfied.... Over a month later things still going well. Lost 1 male Rummy Nose Rasbora that had a tumor of some sort and female Rummy Nose Rasbora. One Laser Cory had to be isolated with Fin Rot, but has recovered and is doing well.

Comment: Received fish today. All individually bagged. All alive😄😄. Put in Their aquariums with no problems. Couple of hours later watched them for a while. Toothpick fish slowly moved around picking at plants, rocks and driftwood. They seemed to have settled in quite nicely. The Eques a little skittish. But that’s expected for Pencil fish. Comment: All 8 Butterfly Goodeids came in healthy and active. Dan’s Fish bagged each fish separately so the water didn’t foul/was clean when they got here. The heat pack and insulation kept the box nice and warm despite the freezing temperatures outside. Since releasing them into my planted aquarium they’ve been sticking together in little packs. They look very nice in a natural setup. Now I’m off to spoil these beauties and get them growing to their full potential. I definitely recommend Dan’s Fish for anybody looking to order online!

Comment: I watched a lot of YouTube videos on Dan’s Fish and was quite impressed with how professional his organization was. I’ve been looking for red laser Cory’s. I purchased 4. I couldn’t be happier. They arrived in excellent condition and the water was still crystal clear. I also purchased 6 cardinal tetras to fill the box up and they also arrived in excellent condition in crystal clear water. All the fish are doing well and are already eating. Comment: I ordered four mystery siamese algae eaters. I already have some normal SAE's, but wanted something a little different. I was expecting them to be juveniles at around 2" like you'd see in a LFS. OMG these guys are big fat and happy. I think they average about 4" a piece. And yes they are different than the normal SAE. I'm very happy to have them.

Comment: The fish all came individually packed in their own bags. The heat packs were still warm and none of the fish bags felt cold. All the fish (guppies, platies and loaches) looked healthy and settled into my quarantine tanks nicely. No DOA's at all. I'll have to see how they do going forward, but so far, I couldn't be happier with my experience. Update - almost a month from when I received this order. All fish are still alive, have shown no signs of sickness and are thriving.

Comment: I had an outcome today that illustrates why you buy from Dan's fish. Bought pygmy swordtails from him two weeks ago. During the livestream on Weds, my female was developing a swim bladder infection. Normally, a new fish like this is headed for "burial at sea". We're also out of the window where it might be Dan's fault, this one's on me. But it's also where the "fat and sassy" difference kicks in. See, I know that every fish Dan's ships has been treated for any illnesses Dan has found. It's also been fed enough to put on decent weight before he ships it out. This fish is as healthy as it can possibly be when it gets to me, and if it gets sick after it stands a high chance of pulling through. In this case: aquarium salt + melafix + spirulina flakes = fish ready to move back into main tank on Friday morning. Could I get this fish cheaper? More than likely, but I'm paying for the peace of mind that comes from knowing it's been treated as well as it possibly can before it reached my care. Your odds of a fish recovering from something bad are way better when it's been treated well before and during shipping. That's the Dan's Fish difference. As a bonus, I ordered 6 livebearers and they've already dropped 6 fry. So, I figure I got 'em at half price. You can't beat Dan's.

Comment: This is a review ~4 weeks after receiving my order. My initial order was processed promptly and to my surprise was able to ship sooner than I was expecting. My berlin platies arrived in spectacular condition. 0 DOA. I have kept them quarantined and witnessed 0 signs of illness, and after 4 weeks moved them into my main display tank. Very pleased ordering from Dan's fish compared to other online sellers and will be a return customer in the future!

Comment: My issues were out of this company’s control. The small box was delivered roughly; I found it upside down on my doorstep. Inside, the water temperature was below 68 degrees and one of the fish was in clear distress from rough handling: it was wedged into the corner of the bag so tightly that its scales were damaged, a feat that required jostling and jarring far beyond the fish’s own strength. The fishes were robust, though, thanks to the care that the fishmongers provided them while in the team’s care. All the fishes were eating and active later that day, including the injured individual. Several weeks later, the injured fish is hale and hearty, and all the fishes are comfortable in their new homes. I am grateful that the team’s careful medication, feeding, and water quality procedures, had strengthened the fishes to such a point that they could survive rough treatment and cold water. Thank you to the entire fishmonger crew!

Comment: The fish were shipped fast!!! I had to change the original shipping date, and Dan’s Fish did not have a problem with that! Great communication from the team! The only problem I had is that the package was marked as “perishable “ so at Detroitmailbox they put the fish in the fridge!!! Luckily this order was cold water fish so they were all alive and doing well! Next time I have to make sure I ask to mark the box as live fish!!!

Comment: The rummynose tetras and yellow platy pair arrived in good condition with no issues. After placing them in my aquarium, all but 1 runnynose were swimming around together exploring. I was concerned at first about the missing rummynose, thinking it must have died or got stuck somewhere. Today I'm happy to report all rummynose tetras are accounted for and are swimming together front and center! Btw this is my first good experience with rummynose tetras. I'll definitely be ordering more in the near future!
