  • Comment: I bought groups of miyuki white ricefish, blue shrimp, and baby bristlenose plecos. Everything arrived healthy. The ricefish and bristlenose were plump and active. The blue shrimp were deeply colored with no pale ones. To give a specific example of the general health/vigor of the fish that arrived - I did see a female ricefish carrying eggs around on day #2 of them being home.

  • Comment: All of my fish came in alive and healthy. It seems that this species seems to have a pH acclimation preference around the 6 pH mark with a couple of almond leaves in the tank. Some will establish their territories in given "Apistogramma caves". They reside near the bottom when the filter was introduced, indicating sensitivity to filtration and water parameters. They can enjoy some live worms, but will require cutting into smaller proportions. Plants such as Java Moss, subwassertang, and liverwort provide hiding spots for the fish and enable them to seek refuge and establish their own respective territories. Will continue researching this unique species.

  • Comment: I had a special request for at least 1 male Macropodus spechti, while the fish were too young to definitively sex, Dan found me the best three that he could, and sent me one that has a high chance of turning out to be male. Let me just say that the shipping job was top tier! Thick double bags that are heat sealed and individually labeled with a single fish per bag. carefully lined newspaper, no wiggle room, and extra secure heat pack on the top that is still warm enough it's actually warming me up right now! Every fish arrived healthy, and while they've only been in the tanks for an hour, they're already happily eating and coloring up. The true sign of a careful ship! Thank you so much for all of your effort, Dan! I'm absolutely coming back for more!

Males are coloring up at a small size and young age nicely. The shipment was spot on! Fish were not too stressed. They adapted to the planted tank and community mates very well.   • Comment: Both S. rutilaureus came in healthy and active a few weeks ago. They just moved into the mixed species stiphodon colony today. They've given me no issues, which has become the norm for me, ordering from Dan. The bulk of my stiphodon colony is solely from Dan. I started it some months ago, and I haven't lost a single fish I've bought from him. Buying from other retailers has been a different story, though. I always expect at least a partial die-off in the quarantine and de-worming period if I buy from another retailer. If you want healthy gobies you don't have to worry about de-worming and always arrive healthy, vibrant and active, buy from Dan! 5/5

Dan of course was as always a pleasure to work with and will be shipping and replacing the L260. Fingers crossed I can raise this little guy whom was a little smaller than I expected when received. Replacement was received and Dan worked over and above with me to fill the box with no extra costs.

Seller Reply: Thanks for being a great customer, and for leaving honest feedback. I'm sorry the L260 did not make the trip. Not sure what happened with the little guy, but these plecos are usually quite hardy so I expect the replacement will do better. For future reference, when the L260 thumbnail is clicked, a detailed description page describing the size of the actual fish for sale pops up. That might help with sizing expectations in the future.   • Comment: Dans fish almost always arrived healthy and thrive. Way ahead of other online retailers. My one honest criticism would be that often I am surprised at the size of the fish I receive. Often the website does not include the current understanding the size of the fish being purchased. Honestly sometimes it’s an oversight from myself I’m sure. I’m sure this will be corrected overtime once the warehouse is complete.

I ordered the fish on Thursday they shipped on Monday , and arrived at 1200noon on Tuesday. Very quick if you ask me. They were expertly packed. Each fish had their own bag, which was double bagged. The container had two heat packs. Most importantly my fish were all very healthy, look beautiful, and they were even eating their dinner later in the day. Awesome experience thanks so much!

  • Comment: Shipping method was amazing. The tiny Odontocharacidium aphanes- "Hummingbird tetra" arrived in excellent shape. They are my new favorite fish. Unique little creatures darting about in my heavily planted tank. Drip acclimated, they ate baby brine shrimp within 10 minutes of being released into their new home. Thank you Dan's fish, ** first attempt at a youtube vid, don't judge, ;)

  • Comment: Originally ordered five striped silver dollars and decided I wanted seven. Changing my order and sending the additional payment was so easy. All seven came next day shipping. They were packed perfectly with heat packs in Styrofoam. All look super healthy and less than an hour after going in the tank, they have their stripes showing and even took food.   • Comment: All fish from my order made it in perfect condition, no DOA or physical damage. It's been three days now and everyone is out and about, and eating. This is my second time ordering from Dan, my first order also went perfectly. Both orders were solely stiphodon gobies. First batch has been in quarantine for about 2 weeks now, no deaths, no sickness--just fat bellies and active fish. Second batch looks just as good. I see no signs of internal parasites, which is always a concern with wild-caught scavengers. 5/5, I'll be back again! Update 1/30/22: All 15 gobies from both orders are through quarantine and into my 110G hillstream aquarium. No losses, everyone is fat and happy. Colored up and doing things gobies should be doing.

  • Comment: If I could give them a 10, I would do it. This has been the best online fish purchase experience I've ever had in my 1 year in the hobby. I ordered and received a beautiful 4+ inch Red Shoulder Severum that arrived healthy, active, and full of coloration. Unlike other online retailers, Dan's Fish kept me informed every step of the way which is rare in this hobby unfortunately. The shipping & packaging was top notch and like nothing I've seen before. The double bags were folded and secure. No leaks like you get with rubber bands. They even included two temp pouch's and a heat pad. They quarantine, medicate, and acclimate prior to sending instead of sending sick fish and blaming the buyers for not quarantining the fish like the other sub par retailers who shall remain nameless. Here's the kicker, they are so confident in the fish they sell that they are willing to refund shipping if something goes wrong and NO ONE does that. Thanks Dan

  • Comment: Easily the best experience I’ve had with an online fish retailer. I purchased a spotted Congo puffer from Dan and she came in super fat and happy. She was a lot less stressed than other fish I’ve bought online (from other retailers) and I was able to feed her within a hour of putting her in the tank. I was very impressed with the packaging…I’m assuming that had a big part to do with her not being so stressed. As far as contacting Dan’s fish goes, he is transparent and responds to emails very quickly. It was 12 degrees here in Toledo Ohio this morning and when the fish came in the water in the bag was only 67 degrees.
