  • Comment: I was tempted to order from Dan's Fish after watching a YouTube video who recommended this supplier. I assumed that they are customer-oriented. So, I placed an order last Dec. 6. I received an email on Dec. 10 informing me that the planned shipping date will be on Dec. 16. I assumed that everything is in order. Dec. 9 at around 4PM, I received an email informing me that one of the fishes that I have ordered is unavailable. I asked why was I not informed and I was told that when they tried to pull the fish today it was not there. I find it odd in various aspects: 1. They should keep track of their inventory levels listed in their website and verify if they can accommodate the order prior to confirming the order. 2.They should have checked before sending me an information of the planning shipping date last Dec. 10 if all of my orders are available. 2. Why were they pulling the fish in the late afternoon on a day before it is scheduled to be shipped? Aren't they supposed to have the fish fast prior to shipping? I patiently waited for my shipment for 9 days only to cancel it at the last minute because the main fish that should have been shipped is not available. What a waste of time. Plus they are not even apologetic about it considering this is their oversight. This experience is really horrible. I will not place an order again.

One of the great challenges with live fish sales involves inventory health and accuracy. It is something that we are actively working to improve.   • Comment: I received my order this morning of "Albino Red Vienna Cauliflower Swordtail". I was sent 3 females and 1 male, which was a great mix. Unfortunately I ordered Albino Red Vienna Cauliflower Swordtail and received hifi swordtails. These fish are a far reach from the fish pictured. These are definitely hifi's and not Cauliflower. The male is I guess what you would call a Cauliflower but leaves a lot to be desired. I sincerely thought you guys would do me right, but this order was a huge disappointment. The females are beautiful fish, just not what I paid for and the male was an obvious desperate attempt to just fill an order. This male should of been a cull as it doesn't do the breed justice and should never be bred. I was truthfully hoping to fill my fishroom with fish from Dan's because Cory speaks so highly of you guys.

  • Comment: Bought several dwarf cichlids, and had 2 Dead on arrival's. When i tried to message the owner about it he denied sending any replacemenets to me as I didn't shoot him an email immediately as I was at work.(Sent the email a day later) one of the dwarf cichlids had HITH- Hole in the head disease. which is a nasty disease that comes from keeping the fish in an aquarium with ammonia for too long without doing a water change. and he refused to send a replacement and basically insinuated that I was a liar trying to rip him off. so in the end I do not suggest this seller whatsoever. His customer support is terrible and his fish are badly treated and sick.

  • Comment: I’m very disappointed with the shipping and customer service I’ve received so far. My fish arrived alive but in bad shape. I don’t expect them to survive. They clearly went through hell in the shipping process, and unfortunately Dan’s Fish bears a lot of that responsibility. Per UPS: “All shipments of live animals must be clearly marked on opposing sides of the carton in bold block lettering a minimum of one inch in height stating: LIVE ANIMALS. The term animal may be replaced with the name of the specific live animal contained in the package.” The box had no such label. It is fairly obvious why the labeling is important. Boxes with live animals are handled differently than, for example, screwdrivers. We’ve all seen UPS drivers throwing boxes. The same goes on at the sorting facilities. Imagine 20 small, delicate fish in those boxes. Additionally, the delivery was delayed due to weather, which I understand is outside of Dans Fish’s control but when I asked Dan’s customer service if I would receive a refund for the $50 I paid in next day shipping (because this is guaranteed by UPS and refundable), I received a dry, unapologetic “We don't refund shipping on delays.” Additionally, I placed my order last week Wednesday and Dan’s Fish did not ship until the following Monday. Due to the shipping issues, I did not receive the fish until the following Wednesday (a week later). Timing matters for introducing fish and a speedier packaging may have very well avoided the inclement weather. For $250+ I expect more and you should too. I cannot recommend Dans Fish. Update: every single one of the 10 sparkling gouramis are either dead or dying. The ones that are alive are unable to lift themselves off the substrate and are lying there awaiting death. Half of the rainbow fish appear okay but the other half (5) are in a similar position. Out of 20 fish, 5 made it. Heartbreaking

  • Comment: I'm blown away on how badly the Hi-fin Wag Swordtails are banged up. The females look like their fins are burned-- they are shredded and missing areas. The male is barely swimming; I will be amazed if the male survives the first 24 hours. The Sultan Pleco seems to be have fared much better and is doing fine.

  • Comment: Ordered 1 albino platinum Lyretail molly, 6 C. Schultzei Corydoras, and 2 bamboo shrimp. The heat packs were still warm and the fish were cozy and individually packaged. Unfortunately, one of the C. Schultzei arrived with Popeye in both eyes and a torn dorsal fin. It died on day two, despite my best efforts. Dan refunded the cost and shipping of the one fish. I was hoping for maybe a discount code for my troubles and next order but no. I also was NOT impressed with the customer service - particularly Jonny. I enquired about honoring first responders, military, and veterans with a discount code. I was then LIED to that they don't give discounts. Huh? Common knowledge you do offer discounts; aquarium co-op and Fishtory coupon codes ring a bell? When I pressed the importance of recognizing first responders, military and vets, I was given an even shorter and downright RUDE and uninformed response from Jonny. I quote, "Those discounts are through our affiliates, who are providing a service for us. There's no way to verify if someone is military or not online." The first responders, military and veterans didn't provide you with a service? BTW, 1000's of online stores offer military discounts verifiable by https://www.id.me/ After spending $100's of dollars and I was just about to spend $200 more - no way after how rude I was just treated. I was also not impressed with how the email was formatted. I could tell it came from Jonny's phone. There was no salutations, no thank you for your purchase- it was just short, rude, and unprofessional response. Attention: First responders, military and veterans. Dan's Fish does not value you or your service to the country. Don't spend your money here.

  • Comment: I bought a pair of the dumbo redtail guppy and four otocinlus (just to fill box because of shipping). The female guppy died 5 days after arrival. I was in communication and even send video to show the guppy not doing well before they died. The male died the next day. DF did not refund until more than ONE WEEK later. In addition, they only refunded for the cost of the guppy pair. They DID NOT refund the shipping. Apparently, they only refund the shipping cost if there was delay with shipping. This was surprising to me because it different from what I hear from the livestream. Buying guppy here is not worth it because the risk is the same as anywhere else except the shipping is expensive. In the end, it cost me $64 for four otocinus. I am only sharing my experience on the guppy. The otocinlus are great. I have no other experience buying other type of fishes.
