Guaranteed HEALTHY LIVEBEARERS! We source the best and work with a Certified Aquatic Veterinarian to insure our livebearers are healthy. Our vet has developed quarantine and medication protocol which we follow to ensure the health of our Guppies, Swordtails, Mollies, and Platies. If you have had problems keeping livebearers healthy in the past, try these. They might not be the cheapest, but that's because we've done the work to make sure they are the healthiest in the aquarium fish industry.

There is a reason livebearers are some of the most popular aquarium fish in the world. They are generally peaceful, active, and come in a wide array of colorful shapes, sizes, and patterns. Also, they are one of the easiest fish to breed and raise. This, combined with the vast array of strains available, means there is no end to the neat variations which can be developed by hobbyist breeders.

Setup Considerations:

Platies, Mollies, and Swordtails do well in a wide variety of setups. Anything from a bare tank with an established filter to a fully aquascaped, planted aquarium works for them. As long as the aquarium is mature enough that water parameters will be stable and ammonia/nitrites/nitrates won't be an issue, they should do well. We keep our guppies at 79 degrees F, but they can be kept anywhere from the mid-70s to the low 80s. They are easiest to keep in hard, alkaline water, which makes them perfect for most fish keepers in the USA.

These fish do best kept in groups...especially the swordtails and mollies. If a single male is kept, he may try to breed with other species in the tank, which will annoy them. The drive to breed is so strong that I've had males try to breed with tetras, rainbowfish, and rasboras when they were kept without adequate numbers of their own species. If only a couple of males are kept, one may rise to dominance and constantly harass the other one. If kept in large groups, the males will constantly display and spar, showing their full beauty without any single fish being singled out and dominated.

Diet: Omnivore

These fish are omnivores, but their natural diet contains a significant amount of plant matter. They also eat animal protein in nature, but only a small amount. Livebearers are not picky and will eat a wide variety of foods, but be sure to rotate spirulina flakes, algae wafers, and other veggie sources into their diet.
