Overview:
Satanoperca is a genus of sand sifters similar to Geophagus. Their distinct shape makes them easily identifiable from other cichlids. These guys are relatively peaceful and do well with any fish that don't fit in their mouths. They prefer to be in groups and sift through the substrate for tiny morsels of food.
Setup Considerations:
Satanoperca do well in all sorts of setups. They can be kept with other large cichlids and in community settings. As long as a fish can't fit in their mouth, they can be kept together.
Sand is a very important part of this species well being. They endlessly sift through the sand looking for food. Larger substrates don't allow them to properly filter through their gills.
Diet: Omnivore
These guys aren't picky. Any standard aquarium food will work great. They prefer to eat off the bottom, but will come up to the top to eat once they feel comfortable.
