Overview: Full Red Albino guppies usually have white on the underside of the belly and yellow on the face/head, but are otherwise a pleasing deep orange-red color.
Guppies are the most popular aquarium fish in the world, and for good reason. They are highly adaptable, come in an endless variety of colors and shapes, and are prolific livebearers. They were once some of the hardiest fish in the aquarium hobby, however, over the past few decades, guppies have become harder to keep as the supply has shifted offshore. We are currently working with a Certified Aquatic Veterinarian to figure out how to care for our guppies so they thrive for our customers. The processes and procedures we are developing seem to be beneficial and our customers are reporting success. However, we feel there is still a long way to go before the hardiness of the "old-timey" guppies of yesteryear is once again achieved. We continue to work towards that goal.
Setup Considerations: These fish will readily adapt to many different aquarium setups. They appreciate having biofilm and algae available to graze on between feedings and providing lots of surface area in the form of plants and hardscape will give them ample grazing opportunities. Guppies tend to be found in stagnant water or water that flows slowly. They are not equipped to swim against a strong current for long periods of time. A filter with a gentle current is preferred.
Specific Care Requirements: If the aquarium has enough cover, lots of babies may begin appearing. Over time, the population in the aquarium can explode. Periodic thinning of the aquarium population may be necessary to prevent Guppies from becoming overcrowded.
Diet: Peaceful Omnivore: These fish are not picky and will eat most standard aquarium fare. Including some veggies in their diet will help them live longer, healthier lives.
