Overview: A large, but peaceful cichlid, severums make great tank mates in large community aquariums. This is a beautiful species with small dots over the body and a row of larger, bolder blotches running laterally across the lower body. They develop blues, oranges, yellows, and reds as they mature and have an ornate, inquisitive face. They have calm, curious personalities.

Setup Considerations: These fish need large tanks when mature. We have seen them successfully kept in planted aquariums, but they have a reputation for eating soft leaved plants, so be careful if you have a prized planted aquarium.

Specific Care Requirements: Easy to keep as long as they are given enough space.

Diet: Omnivore: They will take most standard aquarium fare, including flakes, pellets, wafers, frozen foods, live foods, and Repashy. They need some plant matter in their diet, so rotating veggies into the diet is recommended.
