A great alternative to an angelfish. Unless in spawning mode, these gregarious cichlids are peaceful and, in my experience, won't harm any fish they can't easily swallow. They do chew on plants if they are hungry, so beware if you have a planted aquarium.

This hardy species grows to about 4 inches. The fish for sale are around the 3" range, give or take a bit.
